When she failed to put out the flames, Rebecca Ambrose ran around the house to find her two dogs, seven week old kitten and pet snake before she fled the fire in Liverpool

A woman swooped into action to rescue her beloved pets after a candle set her entire house ablaze.
Rebecca Ambrose, 30, has been left with nothing after she popped out to do the laundry and returned to find her bedroom on fire.
After failing to put out the flames, Rebecca and her friend ran to rescue her pet snake, two dogs, and seven-week-old kitten at her home in Liverpool, Merseyside.
She told the Liverpool Echo : “I had just lit a candle my friend got me as a present for starting a new job and left the room for literally two minutes to put the washing machine on.
“When I came back all I could see in my bedroom was orange and black and adrenaline just kicked in. I think the flame of the candle set my dressing gown on fire.”

The incident happened on February 10 when Rebecca was cleaning her bedroom and left to put on a wash.
Returning just two minutes, she saw fire coming from her room and shouted her friend who was visiting at the time.
The pair rushed to grab wet towels and a mop bucket of water to try to put out the fire.
When this failed, they ran around the house rescuing Rebecca’s pets before leaving the property.
Rebecca said: “We realised it [buckets of water] wasn’t going to work we ran around the house dead quick finding my pets and just got out.

“We called the emergency services and fire, police and ambulance all turned up. Fire were so quick, I think they got there in five minutes.”
The front bedroom, hallway and bathroom were all damaged in the fire and Rebecca is now living with her dad until she finds a new home.
She added: “The whole front bedroom is gutted and completely ruined, I have literally lost everything.
“It’s so crazy how quick it goes up and the aftermath makes you appreciate the emergency services so much more like really.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Rebecca rebuild her home which has so far gained £535 in donations.
